Write for us
Northern Perspective welcomes considered contributions on northern identity and public life. We are interested in clear, original work that opens a question, explains a distinction or helps readers see a familiar idea from a fresh angle.
What fits
Pitches may explore public language, shared memory, regional identity, institutions or cultural change. We welcome explanatory essays, thoughtful comparisons and essays on the background to a public idea. A strong contribution has a defined subject and does not assume that one northern experience speaks for all.
A useful pitch
Tell us the central question, your proposed angle, why it suits Northern Perspective and what readers will understand by the end. Include a brief outline and note the sources or materials you expect to use. Please distinguish what you can establish from what you hope to interpret.
Send a proposal
Send proposals through the Contact page, choosing the editorial option and including your pitch in the message. Unsolicited drafts are less useful than a concise proposal. We cannot promise publication or a particular response time, and we will discuss scope and terms before work is commissioned.
A northern view, open to question
The North is not one story, and no single voice can stand for it. We look closely at the language, memories and institutions that shape its many public lives.
